The Topo Chico
Story

That one thing that’s always a constant for everyone. Whether that be a group trip everyone’s always looking forward to or a snack that’s always available for everyone to eat. There’s something that the entire company likes that has nothing to do with what the company is actually about. We’re a parking company, right? What’s going to be a constant for a parking company? Well, from the beginning of ParkHub, Topo Chico has always been a staple at the office. When our CEO, George Baker Sr., started this company there were only a few employees here and they were constantly buying cases of Topo to keep in the fridge. It’s become the main drink here with large containers of Topo Chico bottle tops that quickly fill up. It’s become a part of the culture here at ParkHub and it has nothing to do with parking, but it wouldn’t be an office here without them. 

Jake Edsell, our Chief Operations Officer, has been here since the beginning of ParkHub and he knows how much Topo Chico means to the company. It’s less about a beverage that everyone is always drinking and more about something that is a part of who we are. He had an idea that turned into something amazing for George that wouldn’t appear to mean that much to someone, but for George and the rest of the company, it meant a lot. Jake reached out to someone in marketing here in Dallas in hopes to get a Topo Chico fridge for the office…

“I will give you a little more backstory. Unfortunately, we are not a retail shop but a startup that is fueled by Topo Chico. Our CEO is obsessed and five years ago when we began this journey with no money – Topo was the only thing the company bought for the handful of employees in the office. Fast forward to today, we have raised $25M, more than 60 employees and Topo is still a huge part of our culture. Currently, we spend over $1,000 a month on just Topo. We literally have boxes and boxes of Topo bottle caps. So I’m looking for a fridge to give to our CEO for his 40th birthday which is coming up.”

And before we knew it, we had a Topo Chico van in our parking lot delivering the most prized possession in the office – The Topo Chio Fridge. Along with a couple of Topo Chico branded bottle openers and cases of different flavors.
